Okay, if you're interested in why I'm looking for ANOTHER steering column, check this post here: Link

Anyway, what steering columns will fit into my car and how well? I want it to be able to bolt in completely, for there to be no rattles, and for everything to work as it should.

Also, on a related note, does anyone know what column I might have right now? It's splines match up to my stock '98 steering wheel, but the entire column is maybe an inch or two too long. The bolt on the steering column knuckle at the base of the column won't even match up so we can secure it.

you should absolutely NOT settle for them NOT taking it back.. no returns? sure thats fine.. but you DIDNT get what you PAID for.. so you should really be a little more forcefull in getting them to take it back.. i mean the return policy they have is COMPLETELY valid.. but you DIDNT get what you paid for... THATS the problem..

I don't want to accept that as an answer, but I really don't knwo what to do. i was told it's not Black Lake's fault and that their company can't take a nearly $500 loss.

Well.... I CAN'T EITHER! :x

I think this might be a '92-'95 column. Can anyone help me confirm it? I'd like to at least know what it is.

No. I can try to find some later though. I'll take photos.

Sadly enough, it's in the car. I have about an inch of play in my wheel (turning play I mean) and it rattles with I brake hard due to needing new rotors.

Here's the only photo I can find right now of the column when we first got it. Yeah, it came with all that s**t I didn't need too. So now even if we could return it I need to locate all of that stuff again. Which could be here, it could be at our mechanic's shop, our mechanic might have thrown some of it away, or Jason might have even sacrificed some to his wiring experiments. I don't know. :(

Remember, this has 6th gen parts on it too! So don't go by that if you want to identify it.

We have my lcok cylinder in that ignition mounting though because mine would obviously not fit on it.

Okay, we went to Black Lake the other day and Jeremy (the owner) told me he'd start looking for a cheap column that fits. understandable that he'd be looking for the best deal after all of this though (since his business *might* take a loss - I'm not sure who's paying for what right now).

I haven't driven the car yet and won't be driving her or letting her move until it's time to get the new column in. So that means even though Jason was sick today he had to drive me to work in the hatchie (I didn't want him without a car just in case he needed one so I asked if he could drive me instead of me taking the hatch). This column's making me nervous and so it the approximate one to one-and-a-half inch of play in turning the wheel. (I have power steering.. when I turn the wheel a bit, the car should turn a bit. Right now it shudders in this field of play when I go over bumps.)

I'll have to cross my fingers and see what happens.

I can see them not giving you your money back. Too many people test by substitution and end up ruining the part. But you are just asking for the right part. They should be obligated to exchange the part for one that fits.

If all else fails, Small claims court. They need to make the situation right and most JPs usually side with the consumer. Especially if you have verifiable documentation from a certified Honda technician.

Best of luck to you!
