I am betting you have a OBD2 to OBD1 conversion harness and an OBD1 ECU.. or a JDM p72 ecu, but who knows.. pull up the carpet and find out..

dont pull up the carpet you wont find it. it is behind the kick panel under the glove box. on the side it will tell what the ecu code is pt2, p28,p30 ect.

Same idea.. but some of the obd2 to obd1 swaps don't go back in the stock position because of the conversion harness. So just take off the kick panel/carpet and take a look.

And you probably won't have to unbolt it, because the code on the side of the ecu will be right in your face on the side of the ecu.

your scan tool still wont work because you have an obd1 engine. but the year is 1998+... which means its obd2b

No No, your scan tool doesn't work b/c it is a JDM ecu. Last time I checked it won't recognize that computer.

if it is an obd2 ecu then your motor is probly been converted to obd2. scan tools dont read the jdm ecus cause they dont have obd2 in japan until o2. wich is k.
