Okay, i have a stock 2000 honda civic ex, D16Y8 motor (nothong done to it). I really want to turbo it, but i want to know what i need to replace in my engine before i even think about a turbo to get everything up to running condition (113,000 miles on the motor). Can somebody put together a list and the price it would cost for everything? including putting a turbo kit together. i am really interested in turbo'in the d, seeing as how tons of ppl do it and its good.

As long as the compression is good for all four cylinders and everything is in good working order (seals / water pump / thermostat), then you can boost the motor on stock internals up to about 7-8psi.

think of rebuilding your engine from the bottom up and that's what all you'll need. quality parts are gonna cost you.

I don't see a reason to rebuild a perfectly good engine. Put together a nice turbo kit, put it on and drive to a tuner near you. You should be just fine in the hands of a good tuner.

Like I said in my first post, get the motor to pristine running condition (without performance upgrades) - just replace the seals / fix any current problems / replace water pump / thermostat and you should be ready to go (thats more than enough).

Depends on exactly what you need to get your motor to that condition. I cant really tell you as I dont know your motor. But for the listed parts above, anywhere from $100-$200 (assuming you can install the parts yourself).

def. get the motor compression tested and leak down tested like what they said. Besides that just give everything a once over and make sure that everything is in decent condition such as hoses, seals, gaskets etc...

7-8psi on what turbo?? its not the psi that will f**k your engine, its the volume of air the turbo can move

i run 10psi on my z6, but i havn't taken it to the dyno yet
thats also with a small t25
