SSAC turbos are alright? :what: Is that what you're trying to get someone to say so you can feel better about buying one? I've heard that their turbos are better now but you could have found a few threads about that right here. They still say that their manis are s**t but I'm sure you'll hear different from someone that has one.

but of course the cheap f**ks that bought them are going to swing on ssac nuts so they can say :P Would I buy one tho? No but that's just me.

I don't think they're bad but I've never had one to tell you the truth. All I can tell you is from what I've heard on the net.

but $2000 for a full kit can get you something decent.

ehh, i guess ssac could have stepped up their products. usually h-t shoots down every product thats mentioned, especially ebay bought products. remember megan racing started off as a ebay store. i read most of the pages in that thread and some points were very true. "when a turbo blows the owner blames themself but when a ebay turbo blows, the owner blames the turbo"

I dont know anyone who has a SSAC turbo kit but I haven't heard anything good about them in a long time if ever actually. For $2000 you can get something alot better

Of course all eBay turbo kits aren't all SSAC. eBay allows anyone to sell. So if I had a Greddy kit, for example, I could sell it on there. And it's likely that someone else is selling one on there.

I had SSAC Manifold and no problems, im not saying i swear by it nor is it the best in the world. But it did what it was supposed to. I DID however, go with a garrett turbo instead of the cheaper ssac one.

:werd:

You can find some decent s**t on there but you have to be careful tho. They can say s**t like no shaft play but you never know untill after you pay for it.

As for ssac mani's, they're s**t. I've seen so many of their manis with big cracks and holes. I've never seen one that lasted.

I just think of it like this. Maybe there are a lot of people that have used the SSAC kit with no problems but we all no there are a lot of people who have gotten bad parts from them too so why risk it. Just get a decent brand for a little more and save yourself the peace of mind. Even if they improved the quality and proved it would never buy anything made by SS Autochrome (that name should be enough to deter most buyers) simply because of their history. I wouldn't want to support a company that's sold so many bad parts to people.

only thing is the manifold cracks, seen it on one but the turbo is ok... no much prob... one issue tho... if u buy the one wit IC and piping... the piping fitment is shitty or not even for ur car.... just so u kno...
i pieced my turbo kit up pretty cheap... i guess about 1200... including dp, wg, bov, ic, ic piping, 450cc, resistor box, etc not including chipping kit... not bad... still have no change to install it yet..

as far as the "you get what you pay for" saying...can anyone explain why xspower has turbokits that cost 1k-2k and what seems to look like higher quality parts?

this seems like a nice cheap idea...

mr ryan why did you have to use an oil restrictor? the problem is they have too much oil running through them?

edit

Because OEM turbo cars dont blast the turbo with 60psi + like a honda will.
My friend Matt (SOHC_Mshue) put a STi (only 34k miles?) turbo on his SOHC setup and the seals were starting to go on him within a week. See most/all turbo OEM cars already have restrictors somewhere inline w/ the feedline.

Ive seen "A LOT" of turbonetics, Garrett & precision turbos take a crap within a month or 2, but no1 posts how horrible they are. The thing is, they all have odd's against them when your pumping over twice the amount of oil pressure needed to operate these turbos. Oil restrictors are very cheap and should be ran with any turbo setup if you ask me, deff. on Ballbearing turbos.

"seems like" are the key words here. ssauto and other knockoff companies put out products that they attempt to make look nice and appear to be quality units. but in reality, they all come from the same Chinese company, with obviously no quality control at all. which is why some people run theirs for several years without an issue, and others dont even make it past initial startup before the turbo takes a s**t. when it comes right down to it, the risk you are taking with these parts is huge. the chances for success are so hit or miss, i would NEVER risk my money on buying one. i work too damn hard for my money, id rather buy something with a good reputation and legit warranty
