this question was brought up this evening when watching the MNF game...

what does it take to move a football team?

i dont mean move them out of town... i mean for the team to travel as a whole?

how do they get from place to place each week ....

cause you go to the stadium the day prior to a game... and its a ghost town... there are only stadium staff milling around cleaning things... the very next day its like the circus moved in overnight...

i assume by plane for the actual players and people... but what about the equipment? looking at the sidelines... theres a TON of s**t that makes up a team... is it all trucked there every week? or put on a cargo plane?

i assume its like nascar.... where they would perhaps have extra equipment which travels ahead of time... but the actual cars are transported by truck every week.

and not only the teams... but the NFL themselves have a s**t ton of equipment. like cameras and what not. i assume not all of this lives at the stadiums?

its just mind bogglling to me the amount of stuff a team needs...

so what do you think needs to happen for an NFL team to travel?

and what do you think the average day is for an NFL player on game day? not including playing the game.. like this monday night game wont end till close to midnite... what time do these guys actually go to bed? if at all? what do they do the next day? what time do they get up the day of a game?

these are all answers most of you probably cant answer... but some of you might know... so thats why i ask

by southwest airlines(most of the time)

Remember that NFL teams most of the time they play every Sunday or Monday, so that gives 6-7 days to travel. The team, coaches, staff, trainers they do it by plane and also the equipment I believe. They have lots of time between games to move from any city to another.

Concerts..........The time between most concerts of any artist are 1-2days between shows. How they set up and then bring down all that equipment for one city and then the next day go to another and do the same?
Sorry for the thread jack..............

roadies... lol

i used to work in the carnival... so i know what it takes to break down and move from one town to another overnight... we were a large show... so it would take us 6 hours usually to break down... then drive... and begin setup. a fully trained carnival staff can do it all in less than 24 hours total. depending on where you were going... they would work time into the schedule between shows to travel... on big moves... like over 200 miles say... we would have a week to set up... but only a few hours to tear down. all of our stuff was moved by truck...

but for an NFL team with expendable income... im sure the process is more smooth and quicker.

personally... i liked the traveling part of the carnival... no the one i was in was not like everybody has heard.
it wasnt that dirty... and it wasnt run down.. a few of the people definatly needed removed. but they were working on it.

one day id like to go back to it if i could... it was good times.

the one i was with... played very large places... like... the state fair of virginia... and maryland.

Each stadium has their own camera and sound equipment. This is why when you watch different games, there's some crappy quality and some HD quality on the tv.... unless your tv is crap.

i think he means all the team specific equipment on the sideline. i'm sure the cowboys don't keep a spare set of water jugs, benches, practice nets, etc at the Jets stadium . it's probably all hauled around by an 18-wheeler

*edit*
this makes me think though... i just saw the Wheel Of Fortune bus going down the interstate the other day, but i didnt see any supplies trucks following it either. so how do they transport that tv set around with them

equipment is taken by plane most of the time with the team, they get to the city 2 days before the game, unless its home then its just like a normal day. superbowl and playoffs are usually 4 days before the game...and yeah each stadium has a complex set up of video equipment so they never move unless its field cameras. ive seen the giants get off at Lincoln financial from a greyhound once so its all about how far the team has to travel.
