i see people list mods and they are like:

example below

Drag kit 9 psi
3 inch downpipe
chipped ecu
s-afc hack

I know what s afc is, but why do they say hack.

'cause the s-afc is a piggyback computer that works along with the vehicle engine compoooooter to control fuel. It "interrupts" the standard signal coming to the ECU and then sends out a false signal to the ECU 'causing it to think that the engine is running faster or the a/f ratio needs leaning/richening. Then the ECU cuts or extends the injector pulse to spit out more fuel into the engine. I would guess that the "hack" part is 'cause the driver is hacking at the s-afc 'cause he's pissed off at the unit for not being able to control timing and now the engine is detonating from too much timing advance.

it is a HACK because it is not "real" fuel management... what the s-afc or v-afc "HACK" involves is using large fuel injectors and then using the afc to cut the fuel flow from the injectors...

i believe stock d16 injectors are 200cc... usually the hack involves putting in 440cc injectors and then cutting the injector's fuel pulses to ~45%, since that would make it about to 200cc.... (200/440 = ~.45)...

basically what this does is that it hides boost from the ecu, which will keep it functional rathen than setting it into limp mode.

hope this explains things.... but if u think my explanation sucks, then go to turbod16.com and search there. they know how to explain it well
