What Model and Year of Civic

Hey,

Basically straight up I know absolutely nothing about cars, but I wanna learn so don't chirp me too much.

I was going to get a civic since they have the most mods available right and they just seem to be the way to go as I've read. I really just want it to look great, while still have something under the hood but I really don't need too much. Probably would be spending 5 - 10k on it.

So what model and year of civic do you guys think I should get?

also what do you guys recommend, should I just get it, nice body kit, upgrade the stock suspension, should I be swapping out the stock engine or leave it? I'm really completely new to this and know nothing :$ just looking for someone to point me in the right track!

Thanks

Our opinions have nothing to do w/ what you buy. You buy what YOU want in a car. So, do your homework, and go from there.

Again, like I said...it's YOUR car. Are you wanting a hatch, a coupe, sedan, why? Budget in US dollar? What are your plans with the car? Show, go, daily, all, some?

See what I mean? We can't help you b/c these are YOUR choices.

If you let us know what you want, we can help some but can't force you to buy a car.. it's yours.

As some of you know, on August 20th, 2011 my car broke down on the side of the interstate and has been sitting in my garage crying ever since then. Well today, a few of my buddies and me got together and worked 4 hours on it.

Things wrong..

Timing skipped 10 teeth on both cams
1 Rocker arm has no bolt, 4 others are loose..
All the pistons were in the same spot, causing it to not run.

At about 8PM central time, we took a battery and tried to start it and it ran like a champion! I literally almost screamed like a little girl I was so happy.. I'm gunna miss the boost feeling but going to love not breaking everything! Stock b18b with GSR trans ftw.

Buy whatever you like the looks of. If you don't like the engine you can swap it out later.

In my opinion the 2 best ways to learn are read the forums and soak up the information like a sponge, or just simply tear into your car and learn as you go.

Knowledge will come as you go. I've learned a lot. But I'm still a noob.

yeah if you actually wat a civic I'd just say go to good and start with 1992 and go up from there and look at images of civics. Unless you like the older boxy style, then you can start older if you really want. Once you know how you want it to look go from there haha. $10k is a good amount of cash to mod a civic especially if you get something from 2000 or older

We can probably help you choose what car to get but ultimately it's your decision.

- I love the way 5th gen hatchbacks look with a lip kit and lowered on some nice wheels. But obviously it's an old car so the interior isn't really great.
- I love everything about 99-00 6th gen coupes, sedans, and hatchbacks. I don't like 96-98's because of their front ends. The 99-00 coupe is my absolute favorite model. The only thing I dislike about my 99 is the fact that I'm short, so I have to sit closer to the wheel. One of my biggest pet peaves about driving a car is that when I sit in a car, I want to be able to sit far back, still be able to reach everything, and have it so my head is where the end of the door is. I hate looking like I'm sitting far up. If you look at me in my car from outside, I'm halfway up through the window. I look like I'm sitting so far forward when I'm actually not.
- I don't like the way 7th gens look, inside and out. I would never own one.
- I really like the 06-11 Civic Si Sedan. The coupes are okay but I have ALWAYS wanted an Si sedan ever since I got into the Honda world in 2004. My biggest and favorite thing about the 6th gen's is the shifter and arm rest. The arm rest can slide forward / backward and you don't have to move your arm at all to shift. You can just flick your wrist.
- The new 2012's are hideous. Honda screwed up bad with them. Looks like a Toyota from behind. Disgusting.
