LS/VTEC is a LS engine from an Integra with a b16a or b18c head on it.
the reason they don't last as long is because most people don't know what their doing.
You need a pro to do it right. the one your talking about doesn't sound like much of an engine. I would just get a cheap eg and swap a B engine into it.

its called a mini me. it puts out about 130 crank hp because of the higher compression (sohc vtecs have smaller combustion chambers than the non vtec versions). its not like ls/vtec, all the oil passages are there and it its pretty much bolt on. but if you have a 96 block in a 96 car, get a y8 head from a 6th gen ex instead, it will be easier. just use the vtec ecu and add the wires to make it work correctly. the best option is to get the complete sohc vtec engine and tranny, but the mini me is ok if you just want a bit more oomph.

uhhhh... no. a d15 has a different stroke and rod length than a d16. a b16 is a completely different block and casting, sharing exactly zero parts with a d15. sorry. and both have more potential than the 1.5.

so..is the motor reliable? or naw?

reliable stock? yes. modified.. no. if you want to go further than the mini-me, invest in a full d16z6/y8 swap or get a b series.

yes...i agree with handlebarsfsr 100%. Mini-me's are good for people that don't want to do a lot to there car but just want some extra ponies. If you plan on going anywhere with the engine performance wise, get a whole SOHC Vtec swap. It will just be more reliable in the long run and it looks like that's what you're going for.
