i use mobil synthetic 5w30 on my 00 si. the car recommends 5w30 and synthetic has been proven to protect better and hold its viscocity longer then conventional motor oil.

true....buuuut.....I would use synthetic...I use Mobile One Synthetic...it has been proven to protect your engine better...and if you change your oil yourself its cheaper to put synthetic in your car then taking it somewhere and having them put regular motor oil in

yea, i agree with 2kstreetcivic, mobil 1 is the way to go because you dont have to flush your system if you end up going back to normal oil, says so right on the bottle. that and it smells good. dont ask.

ummm dont you mean the other way around, you want the lowest number first in the winter, because it means its thinner at cold startup so it lubricates faster. you want 5w30 or even 0w30 if its real cold, and you can use the 5w30 all summer because its the same high temp viscosity (thickness) as 10w30. stick with mobil 1 5w30 if thats what your manual says to use.

haha, ya you want the thinner in the winter, and thicker in the summer time...or you could just live in california and use once type of motor oil ALL year...hehe..winters, what are those?

Just dont use prestone unless you want a nice yellow block if you ever strip the mofo. I use Valvoline synthetic 10w30 because my ride eats up the 5w when I get on it =) The 10w takes a bit longer to warm up but wont get burned up as fast as the 5w =)

you can start when ever. just be sure to keep using it. you can mix mobil 1 with regular oil, but try to keep only mobil one in to for consistancy

The main Spoon dealer for Europe recomends Motul. He says its what Spoon and Jun use in thier motors in Japan.

Anyone have any experiance of this stuff?
