Hey all, I've just started to tinker around with my car a bit and I've decided that the first thing I'm going to do is put in a sound system.

I have picked out the following amp and sub:
1 (one) Audiobahn AW1206T 12" Dual 4-ohm Voice Coil Subwoofer
-and-
1 (one) Audiobahn A8000T 400W x 1 mono subwoofer amplifier

I'm wondering if you guys think I will need a capacitor (I am assuming I will need one) and if so, what size capacitor I'll need...

Any comments or suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

With what little power you are pushing a 1 farad cap is all you will need for sure..

I like the audiobahn equipment though!!!

you dont need a cap foor 400 watts of power. I run a JL audio 300/4, that actually puts out 400+watts and nothing ever happens when its on. Now I know the sub is gonna hit hard but I dont think 400 watts is going to do anything. My buddies 1000 watt RF amp hardly does anything, save the money, dont get a cap

A8000T is 800 watt x 1 at 2ohm I think. I will check. 1 farad per 1000 watts is the rule of thumb. But with tiny Civic alternators, bigger is better. I have a 2 farad and my headlights still dance. A big alternator helps.

Cap = faster discharge = better response. You may not need it, but it can help. Also, that is an 800 watt amp. A nice one at that.

just buy it. I'll bet money your lights will dim if you dont get it......

its worth it, just b/c its working ok on others doesnt mean it will with yours. It will hit harder and I guarantee no headlight dimming on bass hits...

i say buy the cap... its not alot of money compared to having to replace an alternator and then having to buy a cap anyways... so yea, be safe and buy it. plus it will look good wit the rest of ur stuff....
