ok guys i am tired of wondering the same questions over and over.i keep wondering if i should do a swap with my d16y8 or keep it. i dont know what to do. i will go back and forth i once decided to do a b swap and then i figured i could just build the engine on the d and it would be just as good. or i would go and do an H22 swap but that s**t has alot of custom work that needs to be done and i think it would be more money than anyone is willing to dish out. and then i come back to the D again. and the only reason the d comes up is because i pulled on a GSR teggie and was able to stay with her without her pulling away from me.surprisingly that happened, i was expecting her to blow my doors off. anyways i just want to end this cycle once and for all, soo what would you guys doo?? i have also heard of people not even being interested in anything but there D so what is the best and how do you explain the D keeping up with GSR bad ass?? anyways please help guys. it would be more than appreciated.

ha im in the same boat as you. ive debated building and boosting the d or just doing a b swap. i have no idea what i want to do. i like the idea of building a single cam, then you can say my little d16 beat your ass lol

im also in the same boat. ive got a mini me swap. the reson why you keeped up with the GSR was becouse the teggs are so freacking heavy and probly the guy didnt know how to drive. Ive keeped up with a non vtec b18 hatch. i couldnt belive it eaith. so we swaped car i drove the hatch and so forth and so on. the secound race he pulled on me in my car 3rd race vtec was hooked back up on the hatch and i didnt stand a chance i say build the D and spank some ass

i would say build the d if you beat ass in a built b or even the h people might be like oh well yeah he has a b series or it got that monster h series and walk away but if you spank with the d they might feel so dumb and give you props theres a guy in boston with a auto d16z6 boosted dont ask me how and when he spanks he gets hell of props i mean b and h series are becoming more common then a cold i mean the y8 comes with 127 hp at 6600rpm and 107 tq at 5500rpm and on average b series go from 104hp to 210hp the 210 being the b18c spec-r wich is 3k+ and the h is from 160hp to 220hp but once again thats money and hell of custom work by the time you go b or h you'll be atleast anywhere from 2k to 5k into it imagine slapping the 2k into the d thats block work head work and probly can piece together and nice turbo tune it and your gonna be doing about 250 and up the possibilities are endless i mean folks swap because with 2k -4k you can have in som cases even 50-80+ hp gains but your in debt...lol imo just build the d dont do what everyone else has done out of every 10 hondas atleast 6 have a swap anywhere from a old ls to a type r

LS + Boost.

See, if you couldn't tell by the responses so far, everyone has different opinions. I went from y7 to mini-me y8, to B18, to B1B boosted. I never thought I would have gone the turbo route. Things change, so make sure you know for sure what you want before you do anything, will save you money in the long run.

My advice, set a budget and an obtainable, RELIABLE power goal within that budget, then go from there.

yeah man, whats your budget and how much do you want to suit up your ride.I am in the same boat as you are, but to do a swap for me will be costly, its a domino effect, I would need a bunch of other things swapped if i want to do it right. thus my tab will increase and i wont be able to afford it. So im on a hold until i make more money.

i love me a good turbo d16... but after riding in some boosted b18s in the 12s, i'd say swap then boost.

i used to be in the d/b dilemma. i was saving up to build my d, but after 186,000 miles, it was toast. so i got a b20 and i love it! and next year i plan to make it crvtec, and possibly a mild boost further down the road. im sure some people would argue with this, but i just think theres more options for higher numbers (eg. more torque) with a b as compared to a d
