What to do with 7" screen

So we had a broken portable DVD player, but the screen is fine. I took it apart and salvaged the screen. Are there any DIY's or uses for a 7" widescreen display. I'm not too technically inclined, but I thought it would be a cool learning project.

Ideas and sites are welcome.

As you can see there are no RCA's etc to make it easy.

MERGE from Off Topic Thread:
So I popped out a 7" widescreen LCD from a portable DVD player. I want to do some kind of DIY, but I can't find any.

Can anyone post up some sites that have done it?

Here is what the screen looks like.

It's connected with a ribbon cable, but I saved the board that accepted it.

See if you can mount it where your mirror is, buy a camera, and use that to backup/rearview mirror.

I got a free portable dvd player. I wanted to mold the screen into the console and extend the wires to the glovebox, but that never happened. I still wanna do it though.

you would have to figure out what the video and power wires are and make your own harness for it which might be hard I think the portables are assembled with a ribbom cable

True, but I pulled off the board that accepted the ribbon cable.

RadioShack sucks balls at electronics, never trust them with anything

I used to work there

best bet is trying to obtain a schematic from the manufacturer

Something like that, would be better put in a sunvisor IMO..
That's where I would put it..

I dont think it would fit in the dash even with a 99-00 climate control.

Question: when you took it apart, did you pay attention to where those things connected? and what exactly are you trying to connect it to? a HU? or will it be its own individual unit?

i know this thread is dead but I think I have the SAME screen.
but
i dont know what to hook it up to.... I would have to get a DVD player in the first place so then I dont see the point in doing all this work if you can just go buy an indash screen with everything for $300

Jeff can you use someone else to host the photos, wetoddid sucks and I can't even see the pictures.

There should be a way but it would probably involve desoldering/soldering some pieces.
