What to do...

Hey everyone, new at posting here on CC but ive been stalking around on here for a while and decided to start posting. Ive got a 94 lx and just dont know what to do with it. Ive put it up for sale on craigslist and have been going back and forth on just selling it to get another civic with a 5 speed or just keep mine and do an automatic to 5 speed conversion. I really dont know what to do with my car, ive got a little over $2000 to work with so help me out!

Do some maintenance on it so that it runs wells. Makes sure there is nothing wrong with it and sell it. Use the money from it to buy the 5 speed you want

start by posting pictures of your car. the one you will be fixing up. the pic of the rear, the front and the engine bay. if you dont have rims, start by looking for some on craigs list. Also, get the civic you want, make sure you get the generation you really want. or else you will be regretting it the entire time. even if you have to sacrifice fixing it up, it could be placed on hold, no biggie.

FOR SELLING . do not do maintenance on it if it looks ok. save your cash, and keep the gas low, not super low but low. just check da oils and make sure they are not dirty. also clean the engine bay to sell it quicker. a dirty one will show it was never maintained.

Clean it to a brand new car like clean. Shows that the car's been taken care of well.

BUT if you insist on keeping it and doing the 5-speed swap, then that's entirely up to you. I would consider the condition of the body and little things such as engine/interior/suspension/brakes condition.

if you are going to keep it, and do the switch, dont do it. It is better to get another vehicle that has a manual transmission. I wouldnt mess with the transmission. Thats just me, I believe original transmissions are the best and will not break down if taken care of. Once you mess with it, it will not be as good as before.

welcome. 5 speed swaps are risky because you never really know their condition unless you can drive it or know what you're looking for. I would clean it, flip it and get a 5spd. But you also have to figure how much you're gonna make off it and so forth. but two stacks and a car could get you something nice from a trade. Goodluck

Thanks for all of the replies. The reason I brought up maybe doing the conversion is because my mom hates craigslist and when I was going to go down to Indy to do a trade for a 96 civic hatch she freaked out. But I will keep looking at civics for sale, been looking the entire for the perfect one but Im still yet to find it.

As long as you meet in a public place, your mom has nothing to worry about. People start slipping when they meet at their house or a shady spot. Then you're asking to get robbed.
