What Transmission to Buy?

To start off, I have searched and searched for weeks on Google and this Forum with no results. My 98 Civic DX is in desperate need of a transmission. I want to replace it with a EX transmission because I have heard that they are geared better than the DX/LX. I have called around and none of the JDM suppliers can tell me the difference on the JDM side. depending on the trim level here, depends on what transmission you get right? Is it the same in the JDM model Civic's, like if you buy the EX you get the closer geared transmission? I want to be able to keep up with traffic and accelerate with traffic instead of practically getting ran over, but cant afford a B swap. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

EX/Si are all B000. this will be stamped near the tranny drain plug in the back. the lx,hx,dx are stamped A0000.and the ex and si tranny only come on the d16z6 and d16y8 engines. you will notice the difference by swapping the tranny.
