What would sound better?

Ive been debating on what speaker setup I should go with. Im definitely going with Kicker SS midbass in the rear seat side panels of my 03 Si, but as far as the front goes, I dont know whether to go with Kicker KS components up front (with adjustable tweeter output), or should I go with a KS coaxial and a separate KS tweeter. Would the highs be overkill with a coax + tweeter? The sensitvity of the coax and tweeters are higher than the component speakers.

Does it have to be Kicker?

I live pretty close to Stillwater but I've never been that big of a Kicker fan.

It's just sort of...meh:what: to me. Just not impressed with the quality for the price.

My stepfather paid over $100 for his Kicker components driven by a ZX series Kicker amp and to me, it wasn't as good as my $50 Alpine Type S driven by a cheap Kenwood amp. :what:

At least his Comp series Kicker subwoofers have held up. The same can't be said about Kicker Solbarics.

Well, I did some listening to different brands, and I was happy with what the Kickers delivered, not too mention they're about the only speakers I won't have fitment issues with. Initially I wanted to go with Polks, but the tweeters won't fit in the sail panels. So Kicker was my 2nd choice.

I do like Polk

I put the GXR6es that I had in my EH9 into my wife's car and they still sound great even though they are 5 years old.

I'm still running my old Polk MOMO sub in my current car. I got that sub for $50 at Fry's years ago.

Good sound, good quality, decent price.

Generally, component speakers are going to be better. Most coaxials only have an inline "bass-blocker" for the tweeter. Components have real passive crossovers.

You really can't compare a set of $99 coaxials to a $200 component set though.

Typically, if you are just running off the head unit, coaxials will be a better choice.:what:

You just gotta' ask yourself
1. Does it sound good?
2. Does it fit?
3. Can I afford it?

Especially #1. I got titanium tweeters with my components. :???: They are loud but they have this tinny quality to them that took some fine tuning and some getting used to. I'm still not overwhelmed with them. :what:

The Kicker speakers use aluminum tweeters, so I assume it's going to be pretty loud too, especially with adjustable output. I guess it sounds like a coax + a separate tweeter would be too much highs. Thanks for the input.
