i have a good y8 block sittin at my boys shop and i want to do a cheap, but good build on it. i know that d series parts are interchangable for the most part. so what would you do? what pistons from what block, etc, what head, etc... give me some ideas ;)

Word, the d blocks are torque as well. A properly tuned d can spank more cars then you would think. The d blocks from what I hear are stong as hell and can handle quite a nice amount of boost prior to having to sleeve it. My d16y8 runs hard, and can beat most of the guys out here off the line, but I luck out half way down the 1/4 cause I havnt done enough to it. If you put some work in to it, you will not be disapointed.

if you read honda tuning you may have seen the recent article where they used zc pistons and put out 12.4 compression. you cant really run that on a street tune though. go aftermarket and bullet proof that thing. sohc FTW!!

i think i wanna but zc pistons in it, block guard it and put the vtec head on it. but i wanna get some head work done, ie..valves, cam, port matched. this will be a long build, but its going to be fun

drop some flat top d15b pistons in there. it would yeild approx 10.5:1 compression i think.

i have seen 500hp on stock sleeve d series. it blew my mind. OR just put a 50/75 shot on that baby. spank some dohc's
