ok i got a 99 blk civic si...the motor is untouched i recently took it to a real shop to have water pump, thermostat, radiator and head gasket, timing belt and motor flushed. just to ensure its life nothing big. it has 166k miles and has front lip, sparco sterring wheel and function form type 1 coilovers.

heres where it gets interesting i found a clean 98 hatch dx with Rota wheels new tires 205/45/16

Type R LSD trans with act clutch pressure plate,
Cp pistons 9/5 comp ratio
Eagle rods
New oem water pump
New timing belt , All new gaskets everywhere
Motor has less then 40k on it
and its been tuned.
bads- no a/c but hes going to buy it all for 50 and give it to me in a box so i can install it.

it looks nice but havent driven it since its a 6hr drive but the guy just wants something different...the only thing i wanted to keep are my function form suspension cuz he has tokico blues and im not a fan of them...so he said hed do a even trade but should i go ahead and ask for cash on his end or trade and swap suspensions?

Im a sucker for a hatch but you have the better of the two cars here. If you MUST trade, you better get some cash on that deal IMO. Dx hatches can be found in every mall parking lot. The same can not be said for even a beat EM1. In black no less. Personally I'd keep what you have unless the guy just drops a huge stack on your lap.

My guess is, because he didn't mention it, it's a stock Dx motor. Other wise it would have been the first thing he would have dropped. That's what my detective instincts tell me anyway :what:

EDIT: I guess that's why I'm not a detective :(

LOL

Search Craigslist and see what's available for hatches. I bet you can find one in good shape for much cheaper than what you'd be losing in this trade. Again, my opinion is your Si is worth more.

You were about to get swindled man. I don't care if that DX has a GSR in it, it's not worth a straight trade for an OEM EM1 that's in good shape. If it were me, I wouldn't be trading it at all. Keep it, it's a nicer and rarer car.

Tell him ok, i'll trade. Then when he comes to you with the car kick him straight in the junk. Ask him to squat down a bit for better foot to junk cupage. :thumbs up

have we seen what this hatch actually looks like? i havent, so im not judging
Every swapped civic ive seen/had except a few have been hack jobs
My point exactly. I may be jumping to conclusions, and this swap may have been done well, but the likelihood of that is super slim. There are way more garage wannabe cholo mechanics dropping motors in and rigging them to run, rather than legitimate swaps out there.

Also, that EM1 definitely needs fresh paint. Other than that, doesn't look too bad. Ditch the steering wheel, and go back to stock, as well (Just my opinion).

General rule of thumb: When someone wants to trade, it's never a good deal for you.
