What's that smell?

Ok, so I just put a new Type-X into my car and broke it in for a week. So I turn it up (really up) for the first time today and the damn thing stinks like hell. It still preforms fine, it just smells. Is this a sure indication that it is blown or could it just be stinky becase this is the first time it got hot?

does it smell like burning? does it smell like dust? i dont really know but it could just be the materials since its new.

It smells like band-aids. But the weird thing is that it werks perfectly.

It is a 1300 watt amp turned 3/4 the way up on a 1000 watt sub. I was harpin on it a little hard but.....

no thats not the voice coil getting hot, thats the glue cooking. Not a good thing what kind of amp r u running

UPDATE: So I checked in with /////Alpine. He said that the woofer had likley been dropped and the voice coil was knocked out of the housing. But since I did it Ebay, I am are screwed. Sounded damn good for 3 days though.

One blown sub worth nothing, Alpine won't touch it. Have to buy another one. Doesn't sound cheaper to me.

Even if I do have to get another, I make out. And they might be replacing it, I will keep you updated.
