what's the deal with my transmission please help

So I crawl under my 96 civic cx to change the oil the other day for the first time since I bought it and come across this mess, someone please tell me what the heck is going on,here's a pic of where the tranny meets the block

heres another pic, it doesent look like anything fell of or anything, or that like anythings broken but theres oil all over and its not motor oil,

Looks like you bottomed out on something or jacked it on that spot too many times and pushed it in.

Or the previous owner swapped the transmission out for a piece of junk one before selling it. Other than buying a new transmission, the only other thing I can think of doing is use jb weld or something lol. And that's transmission fluid. No transmission fluid = unhappy transmission.
