Wheelhop = dead gauge cluster?

I was at the dragstrip this pst weekend, and my 90 hatch was getting some front end wheel hop during the burnout. And since I have a shift-light, i wasn't looking at my gauges, and then at the end I noticed the tach went dead, and the coolant, gas level gauge, and the clock on the dash. But the cluster lights still work. And the clock works when you press on it. (it always used to turn on when you touch it)

Check fuses, the lights on the cluster aren't on the same circuit as the actual gauges.

Wheel hop = check the motor mounts, especially the rear one.

The hop may have been severe enough to knock some dash and cluster connectors loose.

it only wheelhops on certain roads. It's got swap mounts for my LS/VTEC and has never hopped before, only since i took off the front subframe to install a 4-1 header. Of course the subframe is back on. But i think I might have over-tighten the nut on the front of the torsion rods (or whatever they're called) could that cause the wheel hop? Yeah when it hopped, it popped out of 1st gear!

Thanks guys I'll check some fuses and take the cluster out and check for loose connectors

well the connectors are fine, nice and snug. I uncliped them and put them back on, didn't help, and I looked at my fuse boxes and there isn't a fuse for the instrument cluster. Theres intrument lights, but that's different right.

If I can't get it to work then I might just buy an aftermarket tach, but I still want to use a gas level gauge :(.

Also, the indicator lights (CEL, BRAKE, etc.) don't work. Only the Battery one. No CEL or e-brake lights when i turn the key.

a traction bar will help the hop a bit...

but the same thing happened to me! The vibration from my bosted hatch would f**k my gauges up constantly! There was nothing I could do but keep buying new gauges. that's the price you have to pay imo.

check all fuses. with a multimeter and the ignition on. make sure each fuse that has voltage on one side also has voltage on the other.

same thing happened to my 93 civic ex.. except i hit a dip.. hazards work and clock only works if the reset button is held. the

speedometer, tach, temp, and gas needles dont work. neather do the check engine light, trunk light. exc. the head lights and

license plate light also work. im thinking the cluster isnt getting power through the egnition and is acting as if the car is off. i just

herd a small TICK and all my guages stopped working. all fuses were fine.
