Which Audio Setup?

Hello guys,

I just have a few basic questions here. Before I had a mixed up/hand-me-down system that sounded decent. This time, I want something amazing with tremendous bass on a budget.

Basically, I've been shopping around on crutchfield and I've came up with these subwoofers:

Kicker CompVR 07CVR124

OR

Kenwood KFC-W3011 (Which I can get for cheaper than the kickers)

I'm sorta audio challenged when it comes to the technical terms. So I'm here asking to see if a few audio buffs can answer my question.

I'm also gonna get a Sony XAV-A1 touchscreen dvd head unit to push it all, but I'm not sure on which amp (any suggestions?)
.
Can anyone please help me with this? I'll surely owe you one!

Thanks

Dude you got it all wrong.... The comp vrs are a good start. get the kicker 750w mono amp to push that and a pioneer headunit to deliver your sound. Polk speakers if you're concerned about mids and highs

Great,

Is the Alpine Type-X comparable to those Kickers? I had a guy at a car get together here in town show me this speaker in his car and it sounded really good. Anyways, I liked what I heard because of the massive bass. He works at best buy as an installer and said the CompVRs arent really any good.

Any opinions?

What kind of music you listen to?? all rap and slow deep bass stuff or fast stuff too?? (like some types of rock or ska.) There are only a few types of subs that I will buy and by far my favorite subs I've ever had are JL... depending on you type of music I would rec. either JL W3 V2 10'' or 12''s... I have had 2 W3 V2 10"s with a Phoenix gold 1500w amp and my system easily cracked over everyones I knew... and their price went way down from when I bought them.. they are about the same price as the others you were looking at.

Its really all personal preference though... I like Clif Designs speakers. sound really good and aren't too expensive.

I personally have heard that Kickers quality is only so so from my friends who have owned them.

Kicker is good if you have the right amp to push em. i have a 1200w MDS amp not even pushing to its peak @ 4 ohm and they sound really good and I even have the base comps

the Kicker Solobarics have a high frequency of failure. The Comps are pretty solid.

JL, Alpine, Image Dynamics, Rockford...any decent sub will do...the box and the amp are equally as important as the woofer itself...

i am not a huge fan of having matching woofers, amps...etc...buy what will fit in your wallet and do your homework...

i don't know why it bothers me. perhaps it's an aesthetics thing. :what: i just think it's a bit silly if you have two different brands of woofers. though if you never plan on going to a show or anything, i guess it doesn't matter. :what:

just my personal preference. :thumbs up
