Which SI engine (the 160-170) one fits my car. A 99 Civic EX. Whats the difference between the d16a1,d16a2? Will they both fit in my car or what? I found a cheap d16a1 with the ecu and tranny with free shipping. How hard is it to install also? I think my dad might know how, but is a shop a better way to go???

the only legal swap is a b16a2 usdm. any other b16 is obd1 and would require you to find, among other things, 2 engine mounts from an a2, an obd2-1 wiring harness, and an obd1 ecu. a b16a sir I is what im assuming you have found, and no that wont fit in your car without serious wiring work and either a cable - hydro conversion or a new tranny. get a b16a2 or obd2 gsr motor if you want the easiest swap

First off, there is no such thing as a d16a1 or 2.....the si engines are b16a2...but yes if you wanna do a swap do a b16a2 so that you wont have to screw around with the ecus and extra crap...good luck, I suggest getting a b18 though either a b18c1 or b18c5

I would sell my 99 EX with 78k miles on it for $7500-8000. It has about a grand in mods and is getting a brand new paint job. Its in perfect condition inside and out.

Hey sup guys. The difference between the b16a and an b16a2 is that the b16a is a obd (ecu) zero. The b16a2 is an obd2 from the 99-00 civic si's. The b16a3 is from the 93-97 del sol. None of the b series engines are hard to put in if you have the proper mounts and tools. I would recommend getting the b16a2 for your 99 civic ex. You already have the wiring harness for vtec because it is a ex. Now the usdm version has 160 hp or you can get the jdm one which has 170 hp. Oh yea just to let you know your civic is an obd 2.

actually the d16a1 and d16a2 engines do exist.

i believe the d16a1 powered other tegs of that generation (86-89), while the d16a2 powered the crx si and the DA17 tegs. isn't the d16a2 also known as the ZC? it's dohc, isn't it?

the b18c1 comes out of a acura integra GSR... you would go about the swap the same way you would with the b16a2... but the gsr swap has many options with it.... turbo or all motor... and each have very high potential...
