hi,

i'm buying a 96 civic coupe 2dr 1.6 SR and when looking on american sites i notice they dont list a SR, just EG's etc...

which american model is the same as the british SR???

i'm not 100% sure, all i know is it is a 96, 1.6i 16v v-tec

If it's a b16a with 160hp, I would guess it's the same as an SI.

You have an American equivilent to a EJ chassis and JDM equivielnt to an EK chassis. What trim you have I have no idea. the engines are different I think

your engine options in the us would be a 125/7hp D16Y5/7/8 or a 160hp B16A2, not sure if that holds true in the UK

usdm 96-00 is the EJ -- jdm 96-00 is the EK -- The EG is the 92-95 models
they have the EX model which is rated at 127 hp, and the SI which is rated at 160 hp
ur probably looking for the equivalent of an EX

ive never heard of an SR model tho -just the SiR in japan

Check the VIN# and It should say something like "1HGEJ8000VL000000". That's the VIN of an EJ8, or Civic EX. You can see where in the VIN it says "EJ8". (I am assuming that UK cars have a VIN like US cars do.) You could also check the engine code, which on D-series engines is in the yellow circle in the image below.

Just search CC for more information on VIN decoding or engine codes.

i notice quite a few people in america have turbo conversions on there Civics, is it quite an easy conversion?
