ohh ok thx guys i live rite next to a pep boys and autozone,, and by the way any tips like do i gotta sand it first ? like sand of the old paint are and do i gotta put on any other stuff before i paint? ya
Get a airbrush and use the factory paint. or take pieces to a body shop. Sand, prime, paint, and clear......factory paint looks alot nicer than can paint, and it matches.
no adhesion promoter is a differnt chem that allows a good chemical bond between the paint and plastic... paint doesnt like to bond to plastic from the way that platics come out of molds.... SEM makes them from a spray can.... good company too... dont worry about "sanding" get a gray scotch brite pad, and scuff your area's you are gonna be painting... dont dig into the plastic... just scuff it enough so that you dont have shiney platic... remember ANY AREA THAT IS SHINEY PAINT WILL NOT STICK
If we are talking about Vinyl, how are you painting it? (Im curious) I wanted to make my grey interior black, but the stuff I have to paint with is a spray can, and I have no clue how to take the entire dashboard out... are there any tutorials for this?
I use Duplicolor for all my hard vinyl. Depending on what color you're painting it and what color it is you might wanna prime it. I primed mine even though I probably didn't have to. Make sure you spray it in really light layers, let them dry, and TAKE YOUR TIME. I don't know about other paints, but duplicolor you need to use really light layers, otherwords I can guarantee it'll look like crap. Make sure you put on a non-yellow top coat too. Good luck!
I did all the trim in my Prelude years ago with just regular silver aluminum spray paint. I sanded it leaving the scratches going in one direction so it would look like brushed aluminum, washed it thoroughly, let it dry completely, wiped it down with denatured alcohol, let it dry thoroughly again, lots of thin coats of paint, and a final coat of clear. It didn't scratch or chip.
