Window tint

I went to a few of my local tint shops and they're asking for $125 - 150 to tint my rear window and back side windows. I think i'll try it myself first but I was wondering if anyone had experience with tinting windows and if you could give me a few tips about it. Like what brand or type of tint to use. In NJ i can have 5% tint on those rear windows and thats about it, Mirror tint would go well with my car but its soo illegal.

thats about how much it runs to tint. IMO dyi tint can get pretty ugly results if you don't know what your doing.

I've got like a bronze reflective tint on my black Si (very nice), and I've got the standard black tint on my EX with 10% all around...semi-illegal til I get a note. Most cops around here don't care cuz it's friggin hot in the summer.

I would not recommend doing it yourself...to much room for error. I got mine done all around for $180 and it came with a lifetime warranty...look for that, cuz that could be useful someday

Don't do it yourself it's gonna look like s**t, then you'll get to clean up the big ass mess it will leave behind. Just go pay to have it done. Mine was only $130 and I got a lifetime warranty too.

If you have a rear defroster DO NOT try it yourself. If you have to take it off then the little lines will come with it. If you pay to have it done then they're responsible for that kinda thing. Btw I just spend $210 on mine, thats all the windows, limo on the back 3 and sunroof, light on the front 2 and the strip on the windshield. Sounds expensive but its totally worth it during the summer.

doing it urself is so easy....i did mine myself with the autozone/walmart tint and it came out great. i dont have one bubble. you just have to have the right supplies.

- glass cleaner
- window tint
- plastic squeege
- paper towels
- box cutter

I did mine on my old 93 Integra for a flat $100 and it was a damn good job. I watched the guy put it on, and I would hate to have to be the poor sap who does it. He made it look easy, but I could tell it wasn't something he learned overnight... I'm getting my new civic tinted as soon as it gets out :D

I tried tinting an Oldsmobile once. Curved surfaces suck.

I am with everyone else, Take it to get done, I had Rear Windows, Both rear sides and side windows done in 5% ( Illegla here in Georgia... But who cares...LOL ) and it was $140 with a lifetime warranty, Its well worth the money especially when it has a warranty like that. It will cost you more if this stuff doesnt work and you have to get it removed and get the windows re cleaned for the new tint anyways
