Windshield wiper switch iffy

Another one of my mini problems. On my steering column, the windshield washer switch is very loose. Sometimes when im driving, the wipers will come on out of no where, even if it's set to off. I have to push it up to intermintent to stop them. It's also a paint in the butt to get them to work properly. It sucks in rain when your wipers stop randomly or don't work at all.

go grab one from a junkyard.. throw it in your pocket and walk away happy, i'd say either figure how to remove it off your own vehicle before hand or find a write up on the net somewhere

Since it's on the steering column, should I disconnect my battery first?

Gonna go ahead and rip it out tonight and see how dirty the contacts are.
