See if you can follow me...

The Break down.

Wired Router. {to} Wireless Router {to} Wired Computer/ Via Ethernet Cable (laptop)

im trying to connect the laptop via Ethernet cable from the Wireless router, but it wont let me.only works when i directly use the wired router like b4 i had the wireless router.(wireless works fine btw)

Every time my wireless buggs out and i want to use the Wired option other than the wireless i have to disconnect the wireless Belkin router and connect the laptop directly to the wired modem

My Question is:
How can i set it up so i can just use the Port's behind my wireless router.

what do i need to do?..... btw my wireless router has a PW for setup entry & to be able to connect.

i know i havent been thorough but it's the best i can do right now; questions would help clarify.

It's the Normal wired Router from Optimum, then a Belkin Router i bought. but the Optimum router only has one Ethernet port in the back, and the wireless one has 4; so im trying to connect the wired PC thru there but it wont let me; only wireless is being used right now.

configure the wireless router. yea there should be a way, why the hell else would there be 3 extra ports in the back of that.

Wired Router. {to} Wireless Router {to}HUB {to} Wired {to} Computer/ Via Ethernet Cable (laptop)
you can also try using a hub, it'll allow more then one pc to be on the internets.

Remove the optimum router.... or hub... and just use the wireless belkin...

go from the modem to the belkin... then hook up your laptop with the wire.

open a browser window on any computer that is connected to the belkin... and put 192.168.1.1 in the adress bar and depending on your router... you might need to look it up... but the username and password usually are ADMIN for both..

look around in there for a connection log... it should tell you each computer that is connected... and how it is connected.

you probably have to enable the lan port on the laptop.. and disable the wireless on the laptop side.... im not sure you can connect both ways with both services running...

If it's a cable modem to wireless router than you need to just access 192.168.1.1

it might require a login pass combo that's usually located on the bottom of the router.

If it's 2 routers, just use one of them.

-______-" im an idiot smh yes modem smfh :smackself

no it hasnt worked the way i want it to; only the wireless alone, or unwiring my wireless and placing a direct link between my Optimum modem and the laptop, cant use both at the same time.

that's what i want to be able to do, because i also have another computer coming in later today; a Desktop and it would be a b***h if i cant get the wireless router to let me use the port's in the back for the wired PC, which is what ive been trying to do.

ive looked over the wireless belkin router's setup page and i cannot figure it out. is there something i need to enable? or disable? maybe the IP addresses are the same on both? could that be it? how hould i go about finding a solution. Grrrrrr i hate this wireless s**t.

:word: do this

and if that doesnt work my add for my belkin is 192.168.2.1

you should be able to get it working.

So modem to wireless router to wired laptop.

i would reset/configure that router and laptop (erase your current home network) make a new network w new pass and then have your laptop find the new network via Ethernet or wireless. make sure the security settings match up. good luck man.

edit: i know how you feel setting up wireless is a b***h and a half.

You need to set your modem into bridge mode.

You have a modem that also serves as a router, so you need to turn the router function off on the modem and have your wireless take over as the primary router for the residence.
