Well, i pulled out the head unit of my 98 EK hatch and put in a new one, usually an easy job, as i have already put in one and 2 amps and 2 subs... but when i replace the headuni with a new one and for somereason i cant get power to the new headunit.... but i am getting power from the wire from battery to the terminal block where i would plug the new head unit into, weird, so i checked all fuses, amp fuses, the fuses between battery and amps, the fuses in the fuse box for both clock and radio. they were al fine. i put the new head unit in a mates car to check if it was a dodgey one, worked perfectly..... so now i have no heaqd unit and no clock. any ideas?? sounds to me like its the fuse for radio and clock as they are the same one, but i have replaced the fuse even though it didnt look to be blown.....

any help or ideas would be appreciated, i am really puzzled.

Red, Yellow, Blue, Black. The 4 most important wires. Check that the Red and Blue are working properly. The red should show voltage once you turn the key. The blue, I believe should always have voltage showing. If its not connected though then your radio wont work. To test any of the wires you can use the ground for the negative to make sure your ground is working.

Use a meter to check all your wires behind the radio for power. Did you check the fuses under the hood as well? Use a meter to check both test tabs on the fuses while the key is turned on so you can check for power on both sides of the fuses.

Black = earth

You don't have a separate yellow and a separate red wire? The yellow should be constant and the red ignition. Also did you buy like a wire harness from walmart where you just connect the ends to the radio. If not sometimes the solid blue (if you have a blue and a blue /w white) is the one you need to connect to the radio's blue/white. The 4 wires are a solid yellow, solid red, solid blue, solid black.

If you don't have those than I would suggest getting one of the 7 dollar radio harness adapters at walmart, that the stock radio plug will plug into.

Then you just take the free ends of that and splice them with the plug going to your new head unit. Gets rid of the confusion for having yellow/red stripe. The stock wires in the civic are not color matched correctly for most aftermarket radios. I couldn't even find a color code chart online that was correct to the wires I found inside my civic.

Buying those harnesses makes it quite easy to install a radio, because you can bring it inside and solder all the connections and heat shrink them in the comfort of your own home, then you can go outside and have it plug and play. As a side note the walmart version of that will have two plugs on it, one will be for a Honda and the other an Isuzu. When you figure out which one goes to what you can cut off the Isuzu.

From what I remember there should be a fuse box right by the battery. I know there is a 7.5 amp fuse in there that supplies power to the radio.

yea, the fuse box is on the left hand side of the engine bay. literally to the left of the battery. if you look at the battery, you cant miss it.
