How do u know when u tap into a power source that you arent going to take to much amps or voltage from whatever else is on the source you tap into?

tap into the main power wire if you can. that way its just power coming from the battery and not something like your radio or anything like that.

Use a relay, the power that you want to tap into a signal, then have the power coming from the battery to the component/accessory then to ground. This way, you don't affect the power/amperage at all.

^^ this is the best answer, but it depends what youre wiring up, what are you doing? alot of times you can steal off other components, especially if you arent comfortable with making a relay. Then again, if you arent comfortable wiring up an easy relay... you probably shouldnt be tapping into electrical components in your car.
