WTB: SRS Unit 77960-S04-N82 for 97 Civic DX sedan

My 97 Civic DX sedan is recently throwing intermittent SRS code 8-5, which indicates an internal failure in the SRS unit. I believe that the SRS unit from both 96 and 97 Civics will work - correct me if I'm wrong. If you have a 77960-S04-N82 SRS unit for sale, please let me know.

Update

I have a Takata SRS unit. The part number is:

77960-S04-N82

Please tell me whether you have an SRS unit with this same exact part number.

Mine is the NEC N81, there are some cars in the scrap yard. I will go out there and check it out for you tomorrow. One of them MUST have the right number for ya.

Would the N81 be able to replace the N82. The airbags are the same and it just sounds like you need to know the unit number for tech purposes....hmmmmm....I wonder

My understanding is that I must use the N82 unit for my Civic.

Ok so I just got done doing some checking and the N81 is a superseded number to the N82, no difference except for the manufacturer. See attachment

Thanks for trying to help. I couldn't read the text in the page you posted. Can you post the link? I just want to make sure for myself that the N81 is fully compatible with my car.

The SRS unit arrived safety to my house today. Thanks so much again. I plan to install it this weekend and will let you know thereafter how it goes.

Ron,

Good to know man. It was actually faster than they told me! Defiantly let me know how it works out and if there is anything else we can do for you.

So did it work for ya? Or do I need to go hunting for a different one?
Hey TJ,

This afternoon I removed my old N82 unit and installed your N81 unit. The N81 is considerably smaller than the N82 but it fit just fine in my car. When I turned my key to ON(II), however, the SRS light remained on, suggesting a potential problem. My immediate reaction was to feel a little depressed, but then I thought that an SRS fault code may have been thrown either when you removed the unit from your car or when I installed it in my car. So I just reset the unit, and after that, when I turned the key to ON(II), the SRS light turned on and then off after 6 seconds, indicating that unit works fine in my car and that no fault codes were thrown. In fact, the SRS system continues to work fine after driving 30 miles today, so all looks good at this point. I'll let you know if the SRS light continues to stay off over the next month or so, but I assume it will.

Again, thank you so much for figuring out that the N81 unit is compatible with my car and for sending the unit to me. I hope you will allow me to reimburse you for your time and trouble.
