Is your car a '96-'98 and do you have an aftermarket cd player or radio?

If so, that's your problem. The stock keyless on '96-'98 Civics rides on the factory radio. I had mine hidden in my dash for awhile with a harness that allows you to keep your keyless and domelight. Since I removed it neither works anymore unless you turn the dome light on manually. The middle setting will no longer work.

there is a light green/black and a light green/red in the green plug that plugs into the factory keyless unit built into the factory radio - jumper the two together and your domelight will work again with the doors.... the lt.grn/black is the door trigger wire and the lt.green/red is the domelight output.... negative trigger...

nice imma go try it after my car comes out of the bodyshop for me trying myself to a birthday gift....Yeah I know it's lame but once it comes out I guess i'll go for a photoshoot ^_^ I'll also take pics of my ghetto custom ghetto power steering and it actually is holding on for quite a long time.....I would of thought it'll pop right out.

if you dont then try this...the keyless entry in the 96-98 models are inside the factory radio, removing it will make this happen...

very interesting to know. i have my stock unit still in my dash with my aftermarket in the spot. mine worked up until like 2 months ago (had the aftermarket for like 4 yrs). could this be the reason my trunk light doesnt come on either?

i do have an aftermarket deck in and i still have the stock radio(not installed obviously). i already figured out that without the stock radio the light wouldnt work and i have to buy a remote still cause my car didnt come with one for the security system..but i just need to know what wires to mess with and possibly a few ideas where to hide the radio. the more i know the less time ill be in my car f-ing around with stuff. thanks agian guys.

The stock keyless entry also won't work without the stock radio installed. So don't bother buying a remote unless you really want the stock keyless re-installed (btw, it's not a security system, it's only a keyless system with panic button).

hmmm, i always wondered why my dome light didn't work with the door open anymore, lol. i guess it's not too bad of a tradeoff, seeing as my stock headunit was just an AM/FM radio without even a tape player.=) if someone did a good DIY on how to rework the wiring to make the light work like normal again, that'd be great. the brief one by hondagod98 is alright too i guess. glad someone asked this question:D
