How can you tell the difference between a Type-R intake manifold and a B16 intake manifold if the both use the same cast? Aren't they both P73?

I know the type-R has a slight port job, but can you tell just by looking. I have an intake manifold that says P73 and im just wondering if I can tell which one it is?

They look a little different the type R obviously has better flow. The B16 sord of curls upward while the C5 is straighter out.

Type R C5

B16

if it says P73 its type R.

i dont think B16 and type r use the same cast, or they would look almost the same

so this whole time I thought I had a b16 intake manifold its been a Type R. Thats sweet. Wonder if the guy that sold me the b16 head knew. He sold me the head with this intake manifold and it was already converted to OBD-1 for $400. It was his friends.

Okay so what is the chances......? I just went outside and cheked my brothers motor. He has a B16 from a del sol. His head says PR3-3 on it, just like mine and his intake manifold says P73. What is the chances we both have Type R Intake Manifolds on them?

And is the air flow for the Type-R manifold better then the B16?

Nice I know some people with custom IM because their other ones kept cracking under high amounts of boost :scurred:. Skunk2, Edelbrock and Blox, OEM Type R are some good ones tho.

post up a pic of the cams. Get a good shot cams removed from the head. I'll tell you if they are type r or gsr or b16. need a pic of the opposite side of the dizzy though.
