How do I remove the emergency brake handle on a 99 Civic LX sedan without destroying it? I bought a nice aftermarket handle I'd like to install.

can you define what a "nice aftermarket handle" qualifies as? because if it's anything liek your tail lights then you're in the wrong forum

Easiest way to remove it is to get a set of vice grips or a pipe wrench, and a towel
Wrap the towel around the handle, Twist drivers side to pass side, while pushing forward at the same time
Takes like 2 minutes

I had the same problem and just beat it up for about a half an hour before it loosened up enough to get it off.
As for nice handles - I have seen a nice Mugen one a couple of times but can't find one for sale. There is always momo but I am not I into putting italian on my civic. I thought Razo made a couple but can't find any of those either. I am NOT going to put anything like ichiban or obx ricer stuff in my car! any ideas where to find a good one?
