Faze 5" Tach reading problem..

i just put in the faze 5" tach.. everything all wired up now the motor in my car redlines at 8k but the tach reads around 5k when it starts redlining.. the green wire is hooked up to the blue wire comming from my distributor.. can anyone tell me what i might need to do?

mine sounded like it had a miss when i first started it up i pushed the reset button on the tach and everything has run good since. I've had mine in for over a year and a half now

exchange it.
no need to do that anymore thanks to everyone who tried to help i figured it out.. lol i didnt have the manual so i looked online i had to set it to a 4 cylinder so its fixed now.. now the other question lol where do i hook it up so i can ge tit to light up now when i turn my lights on :] i got a 1990 civic hatch si

i was gonna say there might be a brown wire and a black wire and you might have to cut them to set it....but to turn the light on ....take the signal wire off the tach and tap it into the parking lights switch wire....or any wire that goes hot when you turn the lights on but turns off when the lights go off

ditch the aftermarket tach and get a gauge cluster with a tach in it

i had that problem when i first hooked mine up i had it wired to the dimer and if i had the lights on and bright the tach would shut off or only go to 2 grand try another power source

lol thats funny cause i got that cluster with the rpms in it.. i have an si lol but that one bounces around to much.. plus i like the look of the tach and where it sits =P

and yeah i havent went out yet to look at it so im going to be confused as s**t when im trying to figure out what im suppose to do

if the RPMS bounce on the stock cluster, your igniter could be going bad
