My brother's been thinkin for a long time and searched and He's finally decided on the RE Audio XXX. He chose these because the JL 13W7 seems like it's quieter and can't handle an insane amount of abuse like the RE XXX. He has a Rockford Fosgate 1500.1bd amplifer that says it's not 1 ohm stable but he had 2 Alpine Type R 10's running at 1 ohm but he doesn't what to run it a any lower ohms than 1 and it's 2003 model so they aren't in stores anymore. Here's the question, should he get 2 12's or 1 15. The 12's would be running at .5 ohm, could fry the amp, or 3 ohm, under powering the subwoofers and getting less boom. The 15 would be running at 1 ohm.

I wouldn't push the OHM's. I had to send my phoenix gold amp off to get repaired after I hooked up two 12in kicker subs at 1ohm. The amp wasn't 1ohm stable and cut off.
Either get a amp that can handle that low of a OHM or wire the two subs up to a stable OHM. If he is going for competition I would get the right stuff for the most power.

Kind of a waste of sub. He isn't going to have anywhere near the power to run these. For two 12 he should run the SX series of RE.

come on...wasting money on car audio is a favorite pastime of some (rockford symmetry)...you can do nice things with one woofer...get loads of bass...keep your trunk...do a custom box...get more out of your amp...buy less wood...use less screws...less speaker wire...less caulk...
I hate people like that. I am nice enough to turn mine down. I have ported and bandpass. I personally like the ported better for my taste but go to crutchfield, circuit city somewhere that has them on display and try the different type of boxes out.

haha thanks guys. im not a noob to this car audio stuff but just wanted opinions. these type r's can already flex door panels on cars that are beside me, although they dont make mine wave too much... i dont really get it but oh well... those woofers are amazing for the price. you guys ever heard of TCAB? www.thecaraudiobox.com and yeah RE is the s**t. Treo is up there too. Diamond Audio is too. I live in canada so i have trouble buying these woofers. i just get the regular memphis you dont get what you pay for crap.
yea im liking Digital Designs and Adire as well.....check this site out to look at what the subs can do....
