Tune vs. No Tune

Have a friend who is turboing his integra that has the b18b. Going to be running 8 psi on stock internals and he isnt into a tune. From everything Ive seen on here tuning is the most important step to a build. Am I missing something here or is my friend taking a shortcut he shouldnt be taking.

i tried telling him but he just wants to drive it for some reason which i understand but if he wants to have it keep running he needs a tune

you need to get it tuned either way so the car will run its best. otherwise what is the point of putting the turbo on if you dont want the motor to last and to extract every bit of power you can.

if hes not going to tune, maybe at least get a basemap, the motor still wont run full potential but it will still be pretty good.. well better than not tuning it

he has to run atleast new fuel injectors and some kind of a tune.....a FMU at the cheapest....and Dyno Tune on Crome, Hondata, Uberdata or somthing at the BEST......he needs some kind of fuel management though or hes going to blow his s**t up.....

you always need some kind of fuel managment ....or your going to blow your s**t up like i said b4.....ive seen ppl run FMU's up to 7psi.....but i think their dumb.....just get a chipped ecu for cheap....

I gotta friend like that, I built his ls/vtec. Now its just going to s**t. He just doesnt wanna listen he think he knows what hes doing but he really doesnt, people like that you just gotta take a step out of the picture and let him learn from his mistake.

pull the wastegate spring when hes not looking, then when he wonders why its not boosting tell him its because hes untuned. then hand him the wastegate spring when hes at the place where hes going to be getting tuned... oh and call him a ricer cuz thats what he is.

^ that’s what a good friend would do your going to save him $$ time its like buying a 3000$ HD TV and plug to an antenna you'll still get a crappy reception but your not seen all the potential

the person is on here and knows more s**t about hondas then i currently do that is why i cant understand why he is going this route. It is really puzzling me lately. Only thing I can do is keep on buggin him to get the tune or something i guess

do u know what happens when a honda ecu sees boost? its just gonna think its WOT n/a its not gonna add fuel or take out timing for boost. the motor will be dunzo in a few minutes, if not sooner.

Not a good comparison, since you can pull HD signals off an antenna but i know what your saying.


Slap your friend in the face and tell him he doesn't deserve boost if he's gonna be stupid about it. A tune is a necessity, there's no way around it.
