Spare Key Problem

Hi,
After losing my main car key on the weekend I had to dig up my spare keys I had cut years ago when I first got my Civic. Unfortunately they don't seem to work, they turn the ignotion fine but the engine does not start. The spares are just cut from my main key in some honda blanks I got off ebay. Is there some secruity mechanism operational within my main black key that without it I can't start my car or what?

Any help would be appreciatied.

you should have had the one's you got off ebay programed off of the main key, however since you didn't your next step is to have your car towed to a dealer near you to have it done right the second time, this is where being cheap the first time is going to kick you in the nuts.

your gonna have to get a key cut at a honda dealer according to your VIN...and itll cost you

x2, Bad news.. your spare key most likely wasnt a chipped key was it? Now you're going to have to get Honda to reprogram your ECU (immobilizer is part of it). And then have the keys porgrammed to it.

If you go to the dealer with your VIN and registration they can make you a key for like $25, it's not that big of a deal...

cos I made my spare key couple weeks ago and seems everyone can just copy my key

a chip key isnt going to stop them if they want it... dont waste your money. There are EASY ways around the chip if you know how it works.
