so i got an amazing discount at work and so i decided to buy this viper remote start keyless entry security system thing for my car and being the cheap ass i am i dont want to pay like $200 to get it installed. instead my boyfriend is going to do it.... hes never done anything like that before, he says that he thinks that he can, but being as complex as it is should i pay the $200 or should i let him do it??:2confused

If you've got the money.. get it done professionally, but if it's not too complicated let your boyfriend do it and save the money!

i look at it and it looks pretty complicating...he swears he can do it. i dont doubt him at all. im just worried about how long it will take him to do it. i dont want to be driving around and the alarm to start going off out of no where (not that it would but thats what goes through my mind) and not be able to shut it off. i mean thats my only worry along with the remote start. i dont want that to get f**ked up.

if he has any diy experience then i wouldnt doubt he can do it, but just to be on the safe side get it done professionally. if he does decide to do it most likely it'll take a long time do install if its his first time..... i installed my own and it was my first time doing it, everything turned out great but it took a hella long time to figure it out, oh well saved me a lot of money

hes definetly willing to do it for me with no hesitations at all. he wants to learn to do that stuff. when you did it yourself, how long did it take? and did anything bad happen in the process??

I did mine in my old civic with remote start. It was pretty straight forward. I wouldn't go cheap though. Don't tap s**t. Make sure he can solder.

lol why would you pay a dime to get an hid kit installed?

and to the OP, let your dude take a shot at it, if he f**ks it up he f**ks it up...but if he's that willing to get at it, im sure he won't run into anything serious

You keep going back and forth on letting your boyfriend do it. I'm sure you have no doubt of his abilities, but you still wouldn't be contemplating on it if you were weren't worried for some reason.

Let me say this. I love to learn how to do new stuff. I get to learn something and I save some money. On the other hand, there are people who go to school to do stuff or work at a special skill. You have to think about any possible set backs your bf may have and if you are willing to deal with it if the situation comes about.

As my gf says, just pay someone to do it and be done with it. You know it'll be done right the first time and if it doesn't you have someone to complain to. Isn't it worth $200 NOT to have an argument with your bf if he messes up?
