so today i was replacing my outer door handle on my passenger side door so i took some stuff apart because also that door wont lock. i couldnt figure anything out. the key wont even turn and if you are on the inside the little part that moves in and out to lock and unlock wont even move..does anyone know what is going on? i know that the guy i bought the car from had the locks out when it was getting repainted and i think he replaced that door with another one he found.

yea i did that..even took out the lock cylinder(i think thats what its called)...i did notice that when i took the cylinder out and was messin around with it, one of the little metal pieces kept falling out. i think one of those tiny tiny springs is missing..could that be my problem? i was thinkin about just ordering a new lock cylinder

no you'd have to have 2 sets of keys, 1 for the door 1 for ignition

i know this is old but just wanted to update that i finally got new lock cylinders w/ keys and it fixed my problem. however, i only did the passenger side so far because that was the side not locking. i went to the do the drivers side but couldnt get the supportive bracket off. does anyone know a trick. i didnt have the braket on the other side. im trying to get the little circular wired pin thing so it will come off the door handle but that brackets in my way..

you do know that you can get lock cylinders re-keyed to use your original keys. a lock smith shop can do em. i got mine done for $40 each which to me is well worth the money id hate to have 2 keys.
