what's the logic in audio setup?

i was wondering, just how do you determine which audio setup is balanced, what are the factors that help you pick a good setup!!!
this i ask because im picking my setup, i already decided that im going to go with front and rear component speakers powered by an amp, so i ask myself how do you now which speakers are good, and what amp is the right one for them, the same goes for the subs!!
i mean is there like a logical thing to this or technical for that matter!!!
how do you determine what parts are good and compatible!!!

Speakers are subjective.

I like Polk and Alpine.

One of my clients has MB Quarts in his M3 and they sound tinny to me but he swears that to him it is an accurate sound reproduction.

My brother-in-law believes that the Harmon-Kardon system in his Mercedes Benz is perfect. He is actually upset that Diana Krall did a commercial for the "inferior" Mark Levinson system in the Lexus. what a snob.

one of your clients, where do you work?
anyways its not the brand that im looking for, but the specs i should be lookin at, because every brand has different specs for the speakers, amps and subs, and i wanted 2 know if it was logical or technical info what you need 2 make the right selection of audio setup!!!

is it the rms, volts, body material, etc. how do you pick a good amp for the speakers without blowin them!!
that kind of thing!!!
any info or knowledge of audio setup is appreciated!!

Take your time and go listen to different speakers in a showroom. You don't need components in the back BTW.

So many manufacturers bend the truth on thier specs.

So alot of time those are not very useful.

On paper a Jensen flip up screen may put perform a Alpine monitor.

In life no comparison.

Now in your particular so far

A rear component system is not needed

Components were designed to help improve stagin and imaging, something not needed forrear speakers.

If you are looking for the quality you think rear components are going to give you, get a good set of co ax speakers. A true 2-way co-ax. Something with a real tweeter. Than use the money you saved on a deck with a good processor, one with time alignment. You will get your rears to perform better with that than a set of components



The best way of finding good speakers are listening for yourself, and word of mouth

Car audio is so subjective. I have my favorites, and those I hate.

But what I consider s**t someone else can say they are the best in the world.

So go to some good shops, Listen to what they have. Then ask questions about what they told you.

There are a few of us on here that do this for a living.

I will be honest about anything some sales guy told you

honestly the best thing you can do to understand what each spec means is research it. heres were i found alot of helpful information.

look around on the site its got alot of unbiased information that will help you pick whats right for you.

as for what amp is good for what speakers, good luck. amps are a pain because some brands put out alot of distortion, which maybe good for your subs,but not for your other speakers. just because the max power is really high doenst mean the rms is right for your application. read the link and learn before you buy. if you ask what brand is good here you are just going to get a biased opinion as stated above.

True, try to find some mid-bass woofers for the rear as opposed to components. When making a proper sound stage out of your car you want the voices and what not to stay up front, but add some "rear fill" as they call it with the mid-basses. Stick to sold brand names and you should be good.

Im personally a Diamond nut, hands down, everything speaker wise i buy for a very long time will be diamond (for car audio)... Same with amps.

There are tons of different companies that make good products, its like cars....

its all a matter of OPINION, and what sounds good to YOU.

I can sit here and tell you get diamond, or get JL or get this, or get that, but when it boils down to it, its up to you.

thanks for the info, i agree with the different opinion and taste that everybody has, so im gonna take your advice and go listen 2 different brands, hopefully i'll get a good setup!!

id try to track down people with systems in there cars.. cause what might sound good in a showroom might not in a car.. and vise versa. they are to wayyy different spaces..

I am not a fan of using midbass with no tweets

get a headunit with some good time delay features and run a good co ax set up

That will bring you great stagin and imaging and leave the music full
