No sure didnt. I think Im going to buy a New OEM Type R one I have found on Ebay. I think it would cost me a little bit more but I think it would be worth the extra money to have a NEW transmission. I mean you just dont know how hard/mistreated the used trannys could have been ran.

Thanks people for the moral!!

Yeah it was the cheapest I could find with it being as good of shape as it was in. I figured that it would be a little bit more expensive if I bought the NEW transmission but its worth it.

Thanks guys for the support and positive feedback

if you are building it i would have bought a used one for a lot cheaper. that one is mint as hell.

if you tell me your hp goals i will help you with the proper setup, i have a built gsr myself. reason i say this is bc you had mentioned getting an eagle crank, and some headwork which isnt necessary...just trying to save you some money.

Thanks for the help. I decided to not go with a Eagle crank becuase I read that they are already forged. I may just have a really good machine shop knife edge it. yeah I was surprised at the motor when I recieved it...Didnt know it was as clean as it is. But I think I got a great deal on it. It will make me a very nice engine once I get it done. Thanks again

Where would I start by building my own turbo kit? I checked on a Turbonetics one..called Turbonetics today and they told me it is discontinued...I looked up a Greddy kit and from what I hear, its not worth the $$...So I dont know what to do. Just rying to weigh out my options. Thanks

UPDATE 10-18-07!!

just piece together all of your own components. look around www.homemadeturbo.com and you can find out everything you need, and then just buy each thing how you need it so its all custom. they do mostly junkyard setups but you will still find out what components are needed to build a kit. im almost finished building mine

what are your HP goals?

I would love to have 350 -400HP. I know its alot but I think it would be worth it. Its not like Im wanting 7-800 for a complete drag car...haha. i just want a VERYfast street car that will NOT be driven everyday but it will be street legal. Time is not an issue either. I want to get it done asap but I WILL take my time, get the RIGHT parts and hopefully have a very mean street car.

It doesnt matter really... He could have gotten a 200k mile GSR with shot rings... At least I would have purchased a cheap GSR with shot rings... Youre rebuilding it... Doesnt really matter what the current condition of the internals is...

Edit: Also nice buy on the Victor X I have the same ITM... If youre looking for a badass TB get the BDL 70mm... V

Thanks for the info. I just ordered my Edelbrock 65mm throttle body. It says it was designed to match the Victor X and its 25% bigger than stock. I am doing my research and buying parts that work well with each other. Cant wait to start putting this stuff on!!

alright, well mine is built for 400-450 so i suggest a very similar build as mine. key component is having a very good tune...detonation is your worst nightmare. i have cp 9:1 pistons that are .020 oversized (perfect for keeping stock sleeves without boring them too much, but it allows you to hone it enough to have perfect cylinder walls. eagle h beam rods, new oil and water pump, timing belt, king bearings, micropolished and balanced crank.

thats really all you need to get you to your goals. hell, im even keeping the stock IM. if you want to have extra peace of mind, go with an alcohol/water/methanol injection kit to help reduce detonation. but as i said, a great tune is key.

Quick Question for you guys...Ive been doing some research and just want to know for sure. Since I am putting this GSR in my 96 DX civic, when it comes time to get new exhaust, I order a kit for an 96-00 EX civic dont I? I will just have to get another CAT Converter for a EX I believe...Just trying to get some TRUE info from people who has already done this. Just confirming my research. Thanks
