Turbo

I'm deciding to get a turbo for my D15 non vtec civic hatch back. I know a lot of people are going to flame me bec. i'm putting a turbo on such an engine!

My only question is: Will the stock pistons and overall engine put up with the turbo? Or will I have to change some other things?

Thanks

If it's the d15b8, you could push 150bhp max with a good tune as far as I know. There aren't aftermarket parts for this engine, internal that is.

That sounds like alot for a 70hp base engine with twig internals... But I wouldnt know.

i think any d series motor can handle around 220 whp stock......even with stock rods and pistons....

you just need a GOOD TUNE

D15s use different rods then D16 btw. they are shorter.

as long as you dont boost the hell out of it. like 6 psi max. just an estimate though, so dont quote me

6 psi dont mean s**t, it really depends on turbo used.

6psi on a t25 is NOT the same as 6 psi on a t3/t4

I aqm aiming at getting a t3/t4 setup for my d series. Would I need forced pistons, a new or tuned ecu or rods changed?

depends on power goals
Well power.... My 1992 civic engine is stock at the moment (apart from a cf forcd induction). It's an EG4 Hatchback from japan that maybe has 92hp?? It's a 1.5 NON V-TEC...

Now with the extra force of a t4 turbo, will the engine's components catch up with the power i will produce from this t4 stage turbo?

I really do not know how much power a t4 stage turbo produces. However it's not a top of the line kit so i'm not gaining maximum numbers...

for the 1.5 i would find something smaller, like a t3 turbo, t4 is a big turbo. you would have lots of turbo lag.

my guess for power on stock internals is around 150-190 depending on tune.

use a straight t3, a t3/t4 on a motor that can only handle about 190hp is overkill. the t3 will spool faster and give you a better powerband

So please let us confirm, buying a t3 turbo kit for a stock d series non v-tec engine WILL NOT require ANY modifiactions done to the pistons, rods, cams or ecu?

correct except for the ECU^^^^^^.....tuning is the most important thing to a turbo setup

if running 10 psi and under you atleast need.....

a chipped ecu on a tuning program such as uberdata...hondata...or crome........and bigger fuel injectors(dsm bluetops)

I don't know what Maltese D15s have but USDM D15B7s have connecting rods made of forged Play-Doh.

I drove a JRSC'd D15B7. If I had to guess, I would estimate it to be probably 130hp at the wheels @ 6psi. Seems like it was handling that okay.
