sorry there is alot that was involved in this project there was alot to talk about. i cut out alot just to make it shorter. WELL I just picked up this 62 VW beetle off a friend of mine. im not longer in the honda scene since my old crx was recked and sold. but i needed something with some style plus i have always wanted one. i have only had this thing for like 3 weeks. and have done many things to it already. alot of fabrication has been done to get it where it is. and im just about happy where its at right now. ok so now for pics here they are..
a few from the previous owner i didnt have time to take any pics cause of work and life.
so from here alot of electrical work was done to get everythign working. i had to convert it from 6 volts to to 12 volts. this was a pain. need to change out all the lights convert from a generator to alternator. get a new alternator stand. i ran into a little problem the second day of owning it. the oil cooler blew and i needed to get a new motor (not a big deal) buddy had a spare in his garage he was goin got junk.
a few from the night of lowering it.
car was to low to get off the jack so i needed to put something under the tires just enough to get the jack out. notice the tire gap still some more fine tuning needed. also i wasn't able to get the rear end dropped cause day quickly became night. reason it took me to long was i needed to narrow the beam. if you dont know what narrowing the beam means. is for bugs they dont run springs in the front they have two sets of torsion leaves the run threw two tubes. from there they connect to the spindles. in order to lower the car and still be able to turn you need to cut off a certain amout of the tube which narrows the beam bringing the tires closer together. well this took forever. having to measure and get everything right so i dont die. well i narrowed my beam a total of 5".
here is what they look like stock with shock towers.
here is what mine ended up looking like. i had to cut off the shock towers.. yea im running no shocks up front. dont really need them not to much suspension travel going on.
here is the near finished product i lowered the rear about 2" im still going to lower all the way around. to get the rear lower i need to notch the spring plates so they dont hit the body and will allow me to go lower and still have movment well suspension.
