for a while now they haven't been working and i have always thought that it was this blue box inside the driver side door cause its labeled "door lock unit" so i ordered a new one and i go to put it in today and they still dont work  so i am confused about what it could be. also, a while back before it stopped working i remember that the locks wouldn't work but then randomly i would press the button and they would work, so it was kind of intermittent before the power locks totally crapped out on me. any suggestions? i checked the fuses under the hood and dashboard.

Not really sure on that. Could be a loose wire or maybe your stereo or something is dragging all the power. Turn everything off and see if it works? My cig light wont work if my headunit is on...
What does the "door lock unit" do? Just split the passenger and driver door lock wires?

it has nothing to do with something overpowering it...the door lock unit im guessing is what makes the doors lock/unlock when you press the silver button.

You could say the same thing about the motor in the door...hmmm

I'm guessing its both your door locks that dont work but just check your wires and test the motors. Since its been happening for a while you could have blown them both? A multimeter would save some time.

themotor itself might be bad.. happened on my car and it was a b***h to fix.. the motor got stuck in the "unlock" position and i had to rip the door apart just to lock it..

No, but why not check before you start buying things you dont need. You did say you had this problem a long time ago and now they are completely dead.

ive got a similar problem. i bought my civc with the central locking not working at all. the only thing that happens is that is the passenger side locks when i take out the fuse and put it back in. it doesnt work when i lock the drivers door.

do u have an after market alarm or power lock system? i had that prob and the fuse on my alarm box was blown. replaced it and it worked like new.

the power wire for the locks may be getting pinched when you open and close the door. rerun it or look and see if its crumpled up.
