ive bin f**king with this thing for hours. i have a z6 block with vitara pistons (8:5:1) with a y8 head running on an obd2 y8 ecu. the car starts but runs like s**t. i know its timing related but idk how to fix it. the timing is perfect on the belt but it still runs lame as s**t. i push the pedal and it struggles to get movin. i have an adjustable cam gear that i was messin with but it did nothing. when the cam gear is at zero and i move the dizzy all the way to the front bumper, the idle jumps up but its still lame. do i need to whip out the ems to get it going or what? i need my car. heelllppp

I read somewhere that using a y7 bottom end w/a z8 head, the timing is a b***h to get b/c you have to retartd/advance it 15 degrees just to get it dead on. I dont know if its the other way around or not. Are you using a timing light? All I can suggest, is to make sure the cam timing is set right, then set the ignition timing.

i bet u got cels too lol... z6 block does not have crank position sensor on oil pump nor a knock sensor...

if you have the y8 cam gear it should be fine with cam timing and all...

swap to a p28 and that should help...

i think its gonna be dog slow with that low cr if ur car is not boosted yet...

moving the dizzy to the bumper will retard the timing beyond the safe point. get a timing gun and do that right...

i was told the timing was off 5 degrees. ai was also told a p2p and a p28 run at 2 different timings (the z6 likes more)

the tuners workin on it as i type.

yeah timing and fuel maps are different due to diff compression ratio's. but if your using a y8 head with y8 cam, you need to use the y8 cam gear or y8 adj cam gear.

that P2P ecu suxxx... P28 would make it run better, but it still needs a tune.

We need to know a few things.

What crank pulley are you using?

What Cam gear are you using?

just FYI no. that is incorrect. line up the timing like normal and it'll stay perfect. i built my own y7/y8 boosted mini-me

I'd bet it's the lack of the knock, the crank position sensor would make your car run bad enough and I'm pretty sure you just need to go obd1 and run off a p28, and then see how it runs, and then go after the timing problem.
