so i had put the leds on a couple days ago but today i took it out and tried putting the extra led in..well i drilled the hole in the ctr bezel for the cruise control light...came out good. i then tried to see if i could iluminta the cluster well enough without an additional led so i cut out all the little walls inside the cluster that blocked light from flowing freely. as u see in the pics all walls inside were broken off so light is now open wide inside the cluster. this worked very well but not as well as i wanted to. so i proceeded to think of some ways to add the extra led without cutting into the wire like occivic did in his. well i tried wiring an extra led into the circuitboard paths but for some reason this wouldnt work...i think i wasnt using the right wire cause it came on once for a bit but i wasnt able to get it again. well i decided for the time being...i was just gonna use the socket for the top bulb as the socket for the extra led as u see in the pics. i cant really see my needles right now cause of this but after spending 4hrs on it i kinda wanted to get it over with. i think it looks good enough for me. its not perfect as you can see but much better than a stock cluster and much better than without an extra led or how it would look by just swapping the bulbs and not cutting the walls inside. you can also see that i destroyed the little part for the automatic gears to make the light flow more freely inside. i also left out the little covers in the back of the fuel/temp gauge. i am talking about those little metal round things u see in the pics. this was also to help the light move more freely inside the cluster. what yall think?
and last time i tried doing the center console but apparently the sockets for the center console are the not the same as the ones on the cluster so i couldnt put the led's in. i need to order led's with sockets included so i can just swap sockets out. then itll be all done.
notice all the walls are cut inside. make sure u do not cut walls that are supporting walls or walls intended to enclose the lights in the cluster..if you do youll have ie. the seatbelt light on all the time.
CTR bezel for the win. notice the hole drilled for the cruise control light in the left. i was going to drill the maintenance button but decided not to risk breaking it. just took the reset button out.
here i just redirected the top bulb socket into the automatic holes to make the fuel/temp brighter. the led was thick enough that it just kinda budged into place. i used the second hole from top to bottom.
some shots to show brightness etc. its not perfect but its def good i think.
hopefully this helps some of you guys trying to do this. i got my led's from superbrightleds.com
74's and 194's r what u need. i got extras. also i forgat my turn signals are purple to match the blue a bit better than the green. i put UV led's into the turn signals to make them purple since plastic on them is green.
thats about it.
i also chose blue so my radio/cluster/xm receiver/climate control could match. 3 out of 4 so far is a good step in the right direction.
