moving an untuned car, options?

ok so im going to install my turbo pretty soon here, but have come upon a dilemma.

first i need to get a custom downpipe made im sure that means the turbo system needs to be installed.

second i somehow need to move this car 100 miles so i can get it tuned by a dealer that tunes with neptune.

now i dont really want to use an AFC but im thinking thats the best option. by doing that i can run my 450cc injectors, pull the wastegate spring and pray i dont go into boost, but at this point im thinking i dont have many choices. or maybe i should rent a truck from some car rental place and rent a trailer from uhaul or something for a weekend. what would/did you guys do if/when you were in my position. are there any options im overlooking here?

thats a tough one, you would get raped by towing fees.

Get a good basemap, download and try to stay out of boost

well.. you could always pull the mani off put the other exhaust back on and chug along that way. or get a car dolly from uhaul and pull it..

Do you have the Neptune board installed in your ECU yet? If not then you can just buy the board and before he sends it out ask him to put a basemap on it for you, so you can atleast drive there.

the shop thats doing the tuning just asks that you bring in a chipped p28 and they trade that in for one that has a neptune board installed. ill have to give em a call to see what they can do

Well if you have a chipped ECU and you just need a chip and a program to get your car running, I can send you a chip with a basemap on it. It will be rich but atleast you will be able to drive it without having to worry.

i say just drive it as is. i built my motor and drove it about 15 miles to the shop with no downpipe on stock 240cc injectors and stock ecu w/o a piggyback. as long as you dont beat on it youll be fine. only problem you might have is cops only because it will be loud as f**k.

me and a buddy beat the piss out of a boosted motor for probably 100 miles, untuned with stock injectors, on about 5 psi, if you can drive your car with the 450cc injectors and not have any problems with the car running like s**t, i say just drive it, you'll be okay even if you touch a couple psi.

Get a good basemap from the tuner and drive is safely there.. worked for me.

im in the same predicament but with a freshly rebuilt motor. im going to see if locash cant burn me a basemap so i can drive it up there and tune it.

get the down pipe made and everything, then just swap the headers, drive there with a normal ecu.

dont hook up the charge pipe so you dont boost. but you have 100 miles to go and thats a long way.

letting your turbo freespool like that isnt a good idea.

either install the turbo/mani when you get it to the shop, and switch back to stock for the ride home, or tow it. dont take the risk...

Just noticed you have a 2000 Si, if you can't find anything I could throw on one of my semi-tuned maps and check if the chip works with no problems on my Si before I send it out to ya. Just let me know.

you'll be fine driving it with everything installed as long as you stay out of boost, pull the wastegate spring, and pull the vacuum line off the wastegate and you should be fine.

Just when accelling/deceling, do not exceed 3krpm.

Grandma that s**t and you wont have anything to worry about.
