Hey, Ive decided to remove the rear tint on my EM1. Im currently scraping off the glue above the defroster lines (big gap till top of window). I assume I have to be incredibly delicate when scraping the glue around the defroster lines? Are they as sensitive as they look? Has anyone done this before?

Boy, this is going to take a lot of time and patience...

thanks.

i did the same thing your doing. the person who had my car before me put some do-it-yourself tint on it. i took the majority off but there is still some left at the bottom of the rear window. i just straight up scraped it off with a razor and tint-off for the glue. to be honest i think i f**ked up my defrosters but cant tell yet since most of the glue is still on there.

If you spray some ammonia on the windows and let it sit for a bit it will be alot easier to take off. You can actually peel it off. just try to get all the layers at once or youre gonna have to do some major scrubbing.

* Keep it off the plastic and dont suffocate yourself.

lol I'll try not to suffocate myself. I have *all the tint off, both layers. The problem is simply the glue, its everywhere! so are the damn defroster lines!

What I do at work, is spray it with cleaner (glass cleaner, amonia, ect). Let it sit for a minute or two, and take some really fine steel wool, and just 'scrape' it off. I use that method on the GMC trucks at work, to remove the window stickers that are put on the back of the used cars windows. You really cant use a razor, b/c it WILL f**k up your defrosters. Just be patient, and careful.

Steam!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Go to walmarts or walgreens and by a clothes steemer! Steam the hell out of the glue! it should come off really easy after that with a rag! I used it to rmove the glue as i took of my tinting!

i had to take the tint off my hatch. i used the steam shark or whatever its called. took a bit but came off easier and just using ammonia window cleaner for the glue. any other method would have taken days but did it in one evening. used a razor on a hatchrear before and the defrost didnt work on random ones so yeah dont use a razor. lesson learned.

Damn, i want my windows tinted so bad, but i really dont want to worry about taking it off if i have to (pulled over or something). I might do something like 35% or something.

Good luck with the removal bro!
