hi, im tryin to fix my radio @ the moment (it looks worse than I thought :( I don't have $ to hire someone right now. I want to give it a try, but I have no prior experience or knowlege in this field so maybe someone here could guide me. I'll leave this to an expert if its more than I can handle.

From what I see, the wires all F up!

First, can I just replace the whole wires & brand new tube (plastic hose that hold radio wires)? Look like it cracks & has been cut out. It might save me some headage

Sound good, GooseS2000.

This is a step by step that I found on the net

http://sounddomain.cardomainwiki.com/2001+Honda+Civic-+Kenwood+Radio+&+iPod+Install+?f=print

Ok, so this is the finished product. I have to match all wire by wire 'til all connected like pic below.

However, I can only see white connector on the back of my radio, but what about the black connector?! All i see is a bunch of wires in side a black plastic hose!

I'm guessing your not the original owner. It's possible that they cut the harness off of the car(black connector) when they installed the radio that's in there now. If that's the case then that harness adapter isn't going to work.

You just have to look down in there and see if those wires lead to that connector or not.

Just connect like color to like color...you may need a new harness for not only the car, but also the radio...and if you are going to get a new one for the radio...might as well buy a new radio cause that thing looks ROUGH...

You're correct! I have no clue what the previous owner did. all em wires r big mess :( I still don't see any connector shape or form down there (they're just wires comin through the hood). Anyways, I think I bought a wrong wire harness from wal mart. it doesn't fit stock Radio, plus it has 2 white connectors!

That harness you bought should plug into the factory car harness and you match up the wires from that to the ones on the harness from your CD player...hope this helps...

It sounds like they cut the factory harness out and just spliced into the factory wiring, which would be why
you cant find that black harness =)

What you need to do is cut all that garbage out and get back to the factory wiring, but make sure you leave enough wire in there so that you can work with it. Then, use the harness that comes with the radio and match up its wires with the factory wires.

I found this diagram on the internet, so I don't know if its accurate or not. It should tell you what wire does what inside the car.

Radio Constant 12V+: Blue/White
Radio Switched 12V+ : Yellow/Red
Radio Ground : Black
Radio Illumination : Red/Black
Radio Dimmer : n/a
Radio Antenna : Driver’s Pillar

Front Speakers : 6 1/2″ Doors
Left Front (+) : Blue
Left Front (-) : Gray/Black
Right Front (+) : Red/Green
Right Front (-) : Brown/Black

Rear Speakers : 6″ x 9″ Rear Deck
Left Rear (+) : Blue/Yellow
Left Rear (-) : Gray/White
Right Rear (+) : Red/Yellow
Right Rear (-) : Brown/White

^^^ good info.
its real simple to hook up a new radio without the adapter. the 3 big main wires are the red, yellow and black. dont get these hooked up with the wrong wire or u will probubly fry ur radio.
the black is ground, yellow is switched power(turn on when u turn the key) red is 12 v constant(so u wont lose ur time and radio stations.)
