I honestly have no idea what you're talking about regarding codes. Must be something newer to the civic

Did you steal the radio or something? If its yours, take your registration and ur license to the dealer and retrieve it for like $10 or something at the service dept. I had to get it for my radio when I gave it to my friend.

Only choice is the dealer or on your information kit when you bought the car.

Honda had a built in system for theft that most their stock radio's would require a code to get them to work again if the radio lost power, such as if your battery died, someone disconnected it to steal it...

You can get the code by taking out the radio and getting the VIN number off of the unit and take the vin number to a dealer and they should be able to give you your code, when I was going to get my vin number I was lucky and the previous owner had put the code on the radio. The Honda dealer was going to give me the code for free, but if you dont have one near or something you can buy the code off the internet from sites for like 20 dollars.

or.. you can just get an aftermarket deck. ;) That seems like such a waste just for a code..

before you go to all the trouble of removing your deck...look in the glove box...there may be a sticker in there with the serial number of the radio along with the security code. If there isnt one there then remove the deck and write down the serial number...then call a honda dealer...or a couple, sometimes you can find one who will give you the code for free over the phone.

no, turn the car on and turn off the radio if it's turned on at the time. put your fingers on the preset buttons 1 and 6 and hold them, than take your other hand and press the volume or power button and then the codes should show on the CD info screen. you don't have to take out your radio out of your dash. thats stupid. you should get 2 sets of 4 numbered codes. that is your radio's serial #. right that down and take that to honda with proof of ownership of the car so they don't think you stole it or anything.

Just because it might be too late to help the original poster doesn't mean this won't be useful information to anyone.

For example, I'm sure there are people that will come to this forum and search first and find this helpful. I even learnt something from him today. I didn't know you could get a 5G radio code in this fashion before. Very useful info imo.

no doubt useful, its just that every forum I've been a part of, you leave a dead thread dead, and people can search if they need to. If its different here thats cool though...

look how late it is now and it helped me out tremendously. Thanks for not leaving it dead
even if no one has posted in it, it would still exist. The same way you found it.
